DAYTONA (JANUARY 22-25, 2015): The 53rd annual 24 Hours of Daytona (January 22-25) saw Simon Pagenaud share the #4 Corvette C7R (GTLM class) with English driver Oliver Gavin and the USA’s Tommy Milner.
After claiming the fastest qualifying time in its class, the #4 Corvette C7R concluded the fiercely-fought race in third position to join Corvette Racing’s category-topping sister car on the class’s podium.
Simon Pagenaud’s next outing in the Corvette C7R will be the 12 Hours of Sebring, round two of the 2015 IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (March 18-21). That’s barely two weeks after the Frenchman is due to kick off his 2015 IndyCar Series programme with Penske Racing on March 8 at the Autodromo Internacional Nelson Piquet in the Brazilian capital Brasilia.
Simon Pagenaud : “I had a great time. The Corvette Racing team welcomed me really well. It was my first time with Team Chevy as well and it felt really nice. The Corvette C7.R is a beautiful car and very competitive. I was really impressed with the GT class and I understand why Corvette Racing is so involved with this series. It’s so competitive between all the competitors and between all the manufacturers. I think it’s an incredible series. Every lap, it’s one-tenth here and one-tenth there, and you try to gain time on the others. When you end up, after 24 hours, on the podium here in Daytona, you’ve accomplished something exceptional. And furthermore, Corvette Racing accomplished two cars; and one of them won. So, congratulations to the whole team. I’m very happy to be part of this team and I look forward to Sebring already.”
