After qualifying sixth for last weekend’s prestigious Long Beach Grand Prix, Simon Pagenaud got away to an excellent start and passed two rivals in the course of the opening lap. After running in the top five during his first stint, he appeared in second spot after the race’s first neutralisation. Unfortunately, contact with Will Power on Lap 31 relegated him to 21st spot. After a quick nose change for his Dallara-Honda, the Frenchman produced a dramatic fight-back to eventually take the chequered flag in fifth place, enough to earn him a footing on the 2014 championship’s provisional podium!
